I have always been asked by people what I would be once I graduated. What most people didn’t know is that I am just graduating from a basic degree to become a junior doctor. Being a specialist is not a 5 years course. It took almost 5-8 years (depending what specialist you want to be) to become a specialist after you graduate from your 5-years course.

My sis has been telling me that she feels that she is not cut out for medic. I been trying to discourage her from entering medic a lot of time but of course her stubbornness prevail. Now she is not sure whether she should stay in medic and work as a doc or just use her medic degree and start a career that did not involve any patient care. I guess medic degree is really a versatile degree. You can use it practically to enter almost any courses. Hmmm maybe I should encourage her to take up business or get herself a loving and RICH husband, and then she can enjoy her “Tai-tai” life.

Malaysia’s political arena truly amazes me. Really it is quite shameful for me to tell people that I am from Malaysia when our country top leaders are behaving like a bunch of circus freak. Compared to the debate happening in the house of common in Westminster, our parliament debate is like two kids fighting over a pebble.

I am so worry of what Malaysia will be in 5 years time if nothing changes. I like my country especially the foods and the peoples. I have been brought up in the heart of city and I love what I experienced there yet I could not dream myself to be living in it. The uncertainty is just too much. I need to deal with my skin colour, my lineage and my nationality. Is this how you treat a 2^nd generation Malaysian? Even the PR in UK has much better treatment than us.

Do I support DSAI? I don’t support anyone. I only support those that want to bring positive changes to my homeland. I want to see something is being done. I wish that the changes do come so one day I can tell my friends, colleague and children that I hail from Malaysia and proud of it.

My sis recently asks me to buy her one. She thought that the I-phone in UK is cheap since US is selling it for USD 199. What she didn’t know is that in UK almost everything is comparatively more expansive to US. In order to get an I-Phone in this country I need to sign up for an O2 account and further more I need to pay an extra hundred pound for one. This is not cheap and in the long run I have to pay in excess over 400 pounds for a piece of over-glorified phone.

Hope she is not disappointed… sigh such is the bane of a big bro.

In an hour I will be on my way to London. This has been my 3^rd trips to London and by record the most trips I have made to London in a month. My cousin who I think going to be 27 years old finally decided to get marry. This is my first time attending a wedding held in UK. I am not sure whether I should just give him the ‘red packet’ or I should resort to giving him an electrical appliance. Anyway had a long talk with my mother last weekend and she suggested that I give him 50 quids which is a lot if one to convert it back to Ringgit Malaysia. I guess it is once in a lifetime thing. Hope the wedding is a blast.

Being a medical student in foreign land is not easy. I have always feel that I am good at my study but when I arrived in UK, I was proved wrong not once, not twice but thrice… The experiences really taught me a lot. In the past someone close to me once told me that I am a very egoistic individual. Well, that someone is so right at that time… The 2 years in this foreign land have definitely taught me a lot. I have learned to be less egoistic, to be more tolerant (apparently there is still more to improve in this part) and also less sociable (at least to the local here).

The most significant part that has change is the egoistic part. I used to think that the world revolve around me. I don’t remember myself thinking that way… If I remember correctly 5 years ago I was a totally different person. A devastating event occurred and it somehow transforms me from a very cheerful person to an individual that just keep to himself, depressed and unhappy all the time. It took almost a year and a good friend to go through that one year. Ever since then the road to being an egoistic maniac begin. I guess I thought I am invincible since I am able to go through what suppose to be the hardest time in my life. I totally neglected the reason I can go through this is not solely me alone but with the help from my family and my good friend…

Thanks mom and dad. Without you, I will be an aimless kite forever drifting aimlessly…

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

“Welcome to heaven,” says St. Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems
there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts,
you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.”

“No problem, just let me in,” says the man.

“Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we’ll do is have
you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose
where to spend eternity.”

“Really, I have made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,” says the Yang
Berhormat

“I’m sorry, but we have our rules,” says St. Peter.

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down,
down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of
a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front
of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and dressed in the finest batik there is. They run
to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they
had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly
game of golf and then indulge themselves on lobsters, caviar and the most
expensive food there is.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good
time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that
before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises.

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St.
Peter is waiting for him.

“Now it’ s time to visit heaven.”

So, 24 hours pass with the Yang Berhormat joining a group of contented
souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have
a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St.
Peter returns.

“Well, then, you’ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose
your eternity.”

The Yang Berhormat reflects for a minute, then he answers: “Well, I would
never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think Ai
yam better off in hell.”

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to
hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in the middle of a barren
land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting
it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder.

“I don’t understand,” stammers the Yang Berhormat. “Yesterday I was here
and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar,
drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just a
wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?”

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, “Yesterday we were campaigning
just like you during an election…… Today you voted!

Even when I met with my batch-mate I put up a mask. A mask that constantly portray an ever-ready guy to smile and greet you with warmth, but deep down inside I am feeling lonely. I need someone to warm up my broken heart. I don’t know why I should feel it that way. I am the one that started it yet I feel the brunt of it. It is like a chisel hammering on it all the time. It is not a physical pain. A physical pain I can take it but this is different. Future just seem a bit more cold to me now…
